The GasFields Commission has undergone sweeping change in the past 6 months.
The Gasfields Commission Act 2013 was amended in September 2017 to allow for structural change within the Commission and its staff have been working hard to implement a series of recommendations stemming from the Scott review.
Many of those recommendations and the actions we’re taking are listed in our Annual Report.
We have a new strategic plan and a new approach to how we work with landholders, gas companies, local government and communities.
There’s a strong focus on communications, a new engagement team based in Dalby and Roma, a new role in health, and the appointment of key staff to make it all a reality.
We also have a new website, new social media channels and a new look newsletter.
We published a report called “On New Ground” at the end of June that captures the learnings of the original GasFields Commission and lays a clear path for the future.
That report has been widely circulated throughout the industry and the feedback we’ve had about improving communications has been very encouraging.
We will continue to work closely with landholders, local councils, regional communities, gas companies and government to achieve the best possible result for everyone involved.
In many ways it's a fresh start for an established organisation and we are looking forward to the challenges ahead.
